(Dance Team) Trucking:
One of The Mighty Sound of Maryland's oldest traditions, "trucking"
is the band's unique parade through the stadium and parking lot of
tailgaters before the football game, revving up fans of all ages. Along
with the "Victory song," each section of the band, including the Dance
Team, who leads the "trucking," has their own lyrics and chants
portraying Maryland spirit and traditions.
You will not find "trucking"
at any other University and it is at the heart of the Dance Team and
the Mighty Sound of Maryland's Terrapin pride. |
(Dance Team) Band Camp:
Early Week, also known as "band camp," occurs every summer about a week
before classes begin. The Dance Team, along with the band, practices
three times a day with breaks for lunch and dinner. Though this is a
time to learn the new choreography, set our pre-game and halftimes with
the band, and learn the workings of the Dance Team, Early Week is also
a time for the Dance Team to unite as friends, as well as teammates.
Together, the team works through the exhaustion to learn about each
other, joking and laughing throughout the week together.
There is no experience better than the bonding between new and old
members, and the memories and inside jokes that last throughout the
season. |
